Tuesday July 9–furnace

The asphalt tanker Star River passed up the North River early Tuesday en route to Albany, having previously discharged cargo at Sprague’s Port Morris Bronx terminal and in Providence. The tanker appears to have loaded a refined products cargo (perhaps asphalt) in Aliaga, Turkey. At nearly 600’ in length and over 36,000 deadweight tons Star River is much bigger than most of the foreign flag tankers we see on the river occasionally.
Heading the other way was NY State Marine Highway Transportation’s Maddie K with stone hoppers loaded in Hudson, NY with rock probably quarried there. They were heading for the asphalt plant dock in Stamford, Connecticut.
The Kristy Ann/RTC 80 ATB were heading north for Albany with a products cargo.
Saint Emilion returned from Albany with A87 and anchored in Gravesend Bay.
CMT’s Erin Elizabeth was returning to base with light hoppers.
Centerline’s William F Fallon Jr came up the North River from the Upper Bay with the Long Island barge and anchored off 96th Street.
The Weeks 575 crane was off Hoboken, preparing to do more Gateway Tunnel related sampling work mid-channel.
