It’s not common to see two DEP sludge tankers on the North River at the same time. On any particular day, we usually see one of the fleet of five tankers servicing the North River plant. But on Wednesday, the Hunts Point tanker was arriving just as the Red Hook was leaving with a cargo of sludge for dewatering on Wards Island. The coincidence provides a good opportunity to see the design differences between the Hunts Point, one of thee tankers built in 2014, and the Red Hook, built in 2008.
