The Dace Reinauer/RTC 62 ATB passed the remanent pilings of North River Pier 58 and the campus of Hoboken’s Stevens Institute en route to Albany with a New York Harbor products cargo on Friday. Dace is the dean of the Reinauer fleet, built in 1968 and the company’s oldest tug in service, though it has been repowered and substantially modified over the years to fit it with ATB couplings and the current elevated pilot house.

Pier 58, historically part of the Chelsea Piers though now just to the south of the current Chelsea Piers complex, was probably still standing when Dace was launched back in the 1960s, though the most recent photo of the structure I could find was from the 1950s (see third photo). It served as a freight terminal for the Grace Line. By Saturday morning, Dace is tied up at the Global terminal in Albany discharging.
