Observations on the Hudson River as it passes through New York City. The section of the Hudson which passes through New York is historically known as the North River, called this by the Dutch to distinguish it from the Delaware River, which they knew as the South River. A pair of Marine helicopters, a Venom and a Viper, flew low up the North River on Tuesday, above the anchored and docked naval vessels in town for the International Naval Review. A similar viper was tied down on the deck of the USS Arlington down below (2nd photo) but I believe these were flying out of McGuire in Lakeland NJ, a training route that we see in use for pairs of helicopters like this throughout the year over the river.
