Observations on the Hudson River as it passes through New York City. The section of the Hudson which passes through New York is historically known as the North River, called this by the Dutch to distinguish it from the Delaware River, which they knew as the South River. Working on the North River

Labor Day Special: NorthRiverBlog is mostly about machines and cargo. Of course it takes people to run these machines, but humans can be hard to capture from the vantage points I tend to shoot from, and I know that not everyone is crazy about seeing a camera pointed at them while they are trying to work. But I do capture men and woman working on the North River from time to time, and for Labor Day I’ve gone back over the past two years and selected 25 such shots, with appreciation and admiration for the work they do.
