Observations on the Hudson River as it passes through New York City. The section of the Hudson which passes through New York is historically known as the North River, called this by the Dutch to distinguish it from the Delaware River, which they knew as the South River. NOT THE NORTH RIVER: A trip through New London, CT found the Stasinos tug Meaghan Marie heading out of the harbor with a hopper barge. I believe she was going back and forth lightering salt off a bulk ship in from Egypt and anchored just offshore. I saw Meaghan working on the North River a few times back in 2023 but not since.
