Another Rose by another name

The ATB formerly known as Susan Rose/RCM 252 was among the units sheltering in North River anchorages with cargos during at least part of the nor’ easter this past weekend. The former Bouchard, ex Rose Cay Maritime unit was acquired by Vane Brothers this year along with the Jordan Rose ATB and I believe two non-ATB tank barges. Vane has renamed the tug Cape Cod and the paired barge is now Double Skin 552.

Along with Jordan Rose/RCM 250 which is now Vane’s Castine/Double Skin 550, Vane now has a total of eight ATBs, with Cape Cod and Castine joining Charleston and Jacksonville operating out of New York Harbor, along with numerous conventional tug/barge combinations. Cape Cod left anchorage by Sunday afternoon and was on her was to Boston to deliver the cargo. By Friday morning she is on her way back to New York Harbor, currently on the Sound passing the North Fork.
