Haugland Group tug Lily Anne and other Haugland tugs have been on the North River this past week ferrying what I believe is road salt lightered off a bulk ship in from Turkey anchored in the Upper Bay to the company’s small port in Tomkins Cove on Haverstraw Bay. Most of the salt we see on the North River is heading for the Port of Coeymans or Sims Metal’s facility at Port of Albany either by barge or bulk ship, but there is also a salt distributor operating out of Tomkins Cove which takes delivery by barge.
