Observations on the Hudson River as it passes through New York City. The section of the Hudson which passes through New York is historically known as the North River, called this by the Dutch to distinguish it from the Delaware River, which they knew as the South River. Fall colors have finally reached as far south as the North River. On Thursday morning, Marilyn George, Poling & Cutler’s 4,200 HP tug, passed under the GW Bridge with the Edwin A. Poling barge, one of two 30,000 barrel barges in P&C’s five barge fleet. Edwin was carrying a New York Harbor products cargo between the Buckeye’s Port Reading and Rensselaer terminals. The tow arrived in Rensselaer just a little after midnight.
