Dredge we must

Maintenance dredging got underway last week in Haverstraw Bay and on Friday Haugland Group’s Everly Mist passed down the North River with a scow on the wire loaded with spoils heading for the dump site off Atlantic Highlands. Meanwhile, Dann Ocean’s Comet came north returning after making the same trip.

According to the Army Corps of Engineers, the dredging will remove silt and clay to restore channel depth to 32 feet at mean low water and this is the first dredging that has been done here since 2022. This is the first time I have seen Comet. I believe she has been based on the Delaware River most recently.
