Maintenance dredging continues in Haverstraw Bay and tugs continue to come down the North River with barges on the wire loaded with spoils headed for the dumping grounds off Atlantic Highlands. In addition to the Everly Mist and Comet which I shared photos of Sunday, the tugs Kimberly C and Justine McAllister have also been hauling mud through here.

I think this may be Kimberly C’s first time on the North River. The tug still carries the markings of Long Beach California-based Curtin Marine but I believe it has been brought to the East Coast by Stevens Towing of the Carolinas. As for Justine, we used to see her occasionally moving Rose Cay tank barges on the North River back in 2024, but I have not seen her more recently than that.

Meanwhile, we are also seeing more familiar Donjon dredging equipment on the North River this week, with regular seasonal dredging getting underway at the cruise terminal for the second time this year. In the final photo, there is a crowd outside the cruise terminal as the Donjon dredging team is flanked by a Moran tractor tug waiting to assist a cruise ship and a Metropolitan Marine tug waiting to help land a bunkering barge.
