January 6 2024–Wintry mix
North River traffic was light on Saturday with a winter storm arriving by late afternoon. Accumulation in New York City is expected to be minimal, but winds were building by the end of the day.

NATO in New York
October continues to provide stunning clear cool days as autumnal colors push south. A trio of NATO frigates arrived in New York Thursday, two Dutch and one Danish, and took up residence on the south side of Pier 88 following participation in NATO exercises. Commercial traffic has remained rather light.

Coming and going
The August pattern of hot days moderated by steady southerly winds continued Thursday. My time on the River was limited for a change, but the day was bookended by Reinauer ATBs, with a southbound passing in the morning and a northbound in the afternoon.

Splendid Saturday
Saturday brought extremely pleasant conditions, with temperatures holding in the 60s and 70s and light winds continuing out of the north. River traffic was moderate and fairly typical, while sail boats, kayaks, paddle boards, outrigged canoes and even escorted swimmers were out in force.
