Getting ready for summer cruising
Seasonal dredging is underway again at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal to maintain the listed quay depth of 36 feet (or deeper). DonJon’s Delaware Bay clamshell dredge and tug Casey Ann were between North River Piers 86 and 88 on Wednesday afternoon.

Friday January 5–non-petroleum products

Tanker barge traffic slowed on Friday but other types of barges were observed, including mud scows, sugar barges, and cement transporters coming down with product. Skies cleared and winds and seas were calm but a gale warning is in effect from 5pm Saturday.

Drying out

North River traffic has remained heavy as we move into October and the rains of September recede over the stern. A large number of pleasure craft are also traversing the river, probably many in transit to their winter boatyards as the season draws to a close.

Security, security, security
Beautiful late-fall conditions prevailed Tuesday after Monday’s line of storms, with winds around 10 knots out of the west.
